Compare the 2019 Nissan Altima to the 2019 Toyota Camry

For Drivers in Roswell, GA, the New Nissan Altima Already Bests the Toyota Competition

SUVs are gaining traction. The car-like crossover drive is catching on with families looking for space and accommodations. Even so, mid-size cars remain more competitive than ever. Nowhere is the segment's rivalry more pounced, too, than between two of its top mainstays, Nissan Altima and Toyota Camry.

Ours has been a favorite among commuters and pleasure-cruisers since 1992, a successor to iconic Nissan Bluebird, and theirs, the Toyota flagship since 1982, preceded by the celebrated Celica. Both models are standouts among sedans of the modern day, but only one has stood the test of time. See why the new Altima, back and better than ever for 2019, is still a prime choice for greater Atlanta right here at Regal Nissan in Roswell!

2019 Nissan Altima vs. 2019 Toyota Camry

2019 Altima heads out the gate in trims ranging from S and SR to mid-level SV and top-tier SL and Platinum. 2019 Camry shows up in base L and LE, it graduates to XLE and sporty SE, and reaches XSE at the top of the line, accompanied by V6 variants. Look closer, and you'll see where Altima pulls ahead.

  • A 188-horsepower, 2.5-liter I4 engine comes standard, ready to put out 180 pound-feet of torque. Though Camry standardizes a 203-horsepower, 2.5-liter In-line four-cylinder at base, capable of 184 pound-feet, with a short step up to its SR trim, Altima comes out on top. It features an available up-to-248-horsepower, 2.0-liter VC-Turbo&#trade; inline-four, ready to churn out up to 273 pound-feet. You won't get that bump with a step up to Camry LE, or even midrange Camry XLE; Camry's horsepower only rises to 206 in its XSE trim, and you'll have to go all the way to the highest to get 301, making Toyota a costlier investment for performance thrills.
  • Altima makes Intelligent All-Wheel Drive available throughout its lineup. With Camry, AWD isn't offered, even as an option.
  • Expect great fuel economy up to 28 mpg in a city like Sandy Springs, 39 mpg on the highway to Johns Creek, and 32 mpg combined between Alpharetta lights and the Georgia country beyond. Camry is comparable at 29 mpg, 41 mpg, and 34 mpg respectively.
  • Driver-assist features come standard and available in abundance. They include blind-spot and intelligent forward-collision warnings, a ProPILOT Assist suite, emergency and rear automatic brakes, intelligent cruise control and lane intervention systems, a pedestrian detector, rear sonar and cross-traffic alert systems, traffic sign recognition, an intelligent driver alertness feature, and more. Camry offers Toyota's comparable but less comprehensive Safety Sense P system (TSS-P).
  • With 100.8 cubic feet of passenger space excluding moonroof, Altima is the roomier option. Camry's cabin is edged out at 100.4 cubic feet.
  • Altima also incorporates a more spacious 15.4-cubic-foot trunk. That of Camry is 14.1 cubic feet at base, and only 15.1 in higher trims.
  • Ever the tech-savvy choice, Altima comes standard with a NissanConnect® 8-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to connect your smartphone. Camry only offers a 7-inch Entune system at base, and to the chagrin of Android phone users, it only has Apple CarPlay.
